BOH Plantations and Kakiseni celebrated the annual 14th BOH Cameronian Arts Awards at The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur in recognition of outstanding achievements in Malaysian performing arts.
Caroline Russell, CEO of BOH Plantations, said, “Raising the Bar with Artistic Excellence’ is certainly apt as a theme to drive the performing arts to the next level of growth. It embodies our renewed focus and our aspirations to elevate artistic standards and expression. It also challenges performers to bring about meaningful change in the industry. This will hopefully lend positive impact that can ripple across the industry in the years ahead.”
According to Low Ngai Yuen, the President of Kakiseni, “The Awards has been an awesome way for artistes and producers to gain recognition from their peers. It should open doors to build partnerships that allow Malaysian artistes to become gamechangers.”
The 12 categories for the 14th BOH Cameronian Arts Awards were decided by a panel of veteran performing arts practitioners. Some of which were Best Group Performance in Dance, Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Theatre and Innovation in Musical Theatre.
In line with the focus of raising the bar and generating positive energy that will radiate throughout the industry, this year’s trophy was inspired by ripples of water that radiate forward and outward from a drop, which represents the direction of positive change that comes from the Awards–forward and outward.
