You’ll find no complaints with its lavishly decorated rooms, beautiful in design, ergonomic in use, extremely spacious yet maintaining an element of cosy, warmth and familiarity.
Just a three minute walk from Flagstaff station, Radisson’s connectivity to the city is of undeniable convenience. You’ll stay within the Free Tram Zone, be just a five minute walk from the invigorating hustle and bustle of Queen Victoria Market, and have hassle-free access to all of Melbourne’s lively cafes, pubs, bars and malls.
Previously a police headquarters, Radisson on Flagstaff has chosen to maintain a few of its sui generis elements, explaining why their restaurant is thoughtfully named HQ’s.
This unassuming dining pocket in the heart of Melbourne has managed to bag many notable awards, one of which was best all-day-dining hotel restaurant in Victoria (2016), an accomplishment that drove us to try out some of its exclusive offerings.
A brilliant visual ensemble of orange, cherry, and strawberry intermingling with the lychee liquor, we were first introduced to the magic of HQ’s through its Lychee Affair cocktail, creatively crafted by its mixologist, Eldo Jacob.
The freshness of the ingredients, with its sour and sweet flavours perfectly balanced, brought to life a refreshingly delicious concoction, uncomplicated in taste but very worthy of mention. Orange slices were meticulously burnt to infuse a zesty, citrus flavour into the liquor. A play on sweetness comes in with fresh strawberries drizzled with homemade chocolate sauce, effortlessly conjuring ambrosia on the taste buds.
An entre for the curious, the Bruleed Chicken Parfait does not fail to impress.
To be spread on brioche, it presents itself crusty and caramelized on the surface but unbelievably smooth and silky upon cracking the top layer. The soft and savoury free range chicken parfait tangoed in harmony with its crunchy and sweet caramelised top, this fascinating creation earning its place in our good books.
Simple plating belies the true nature of this delectable dish.
This Twice-Cooked Free Range Duck is of an amazingly tender texture. Meat that falls off the bone, oozing with natural sweet juices, it was perfectly supple and smooth absent any of the dangerous rubbery, chewy texture. This was a glorious dish! You’ll find yourself mopping up the parsnip cream and blood orange caramel alongside the duck as the combination of sweet, zesty and balsamic flavours implode in your mouth, begging for another bite.
If you’re dropping by this festive season, there’re some delightful lunch buffets served at HQ’s befitting the joyous occasion. And come 31st December, drop by during HQ’s New Year’s party for canapes, cocktails and front row seats to the near year’s fireworks show!
