A tasteful concoction of urban modernity and cultural diversity. Be utterly impressed with Singapore, a powerhouse of a city that exudes sophistication and flair.

Girls, strap on those heels! And guys, slip on those shades! We are going to Singapore! A city exuding luxury and style. It is not just gorgeous, but efficient, convenient and safe. Very, very safe. I could walk along the streets at 3 am and not be the slightest bit perturbed. To add to that, commuting here is such a breeze. Because Singapore is small and exceptionally well planned, you can get almost anywhere by a train or by foot. Trains are relied upon here so much so that the locals here describe distances by the number of train stops.

Singapore is one of the loveliest cities I’ve been to. If I were to describe it in two words, it would be pristine and efficient. Allow me to take you through it in my shoes.

Chinatown

You remember that scene when Harry Potter stumbles through Diagon Alley, confused and disoriented with the myriad of shops that line the streets? That is what Chinatown feels like.

So much to see, so little time! There are rows and rows of shops that appear ostensibly fascinating, luring you to enter and linger. Your eyes just don’t stop darting from item to item.

You can find really ornate and random items sold here, from stunning Chinese garments to colourful dildos lining some shady glass windows.

We had an absolutely entertaining time walking the immaculate streets of Chinatown, snacking on street food, exploring intriguing stores and merchandise while belting out the tunes of Macklemore’s “Downtown!”

Marina Bay Sands

Seamlessly blending art with architecture, Singapore has somehow managed to strategically construct their concrete jungles with elegance and charm. Marina Bay Sands (MBS) is the perfect example of sophistication in design.

MBS is a congregation of buildings, mainly consisting of a mall, hotel, and the bay.

You can take an elevator all the way up to the hotel rooftop and take a long dip in the infinity pool.

Or have drinks in Elevate Club enjoying a bird’s eye view of Singapore, 57 floors above the ground. Its architectural design of the highest caliber would leave very few people unimpressed. I felt like a frigging potato, standing there amidst all the grandeur, not knowing how to fit in. But the bay… Just stunning.

Take a walk down the bay and admire the city skyline while breathing in the fresh air, courtesy of the multitude of trees around the bay. Joggers, cyclists and skateboarders will pass you by while you immerse yourself in the surprisingly tranquil city atmosphere.

Gardens by the Bay

This place does a fantastic job at flawlessly integrating synthetic with nature. We stood and gazed in awe at the work of art that stood before us.

The ethereal structures that towered majestically above us immediately transported me into the world of the Na’vi. Only thing missing were blue people walking around. The view was mesmerizing.

I wanted to just sit down, enjoy the landscape and keep hoping that Avatar’s flying dragons will come and laze about with us.

On the way home, thinking about the whole experience, I would have to say that Singapore is indeed a great country.

It’s the epitome of style, elegance and luxury.

Yet, full of culture and tradition.

It truly is a riveting city, logistically convenient to explore and you can most definitely expect the unexpected.
